Wow, it is sure beginning to feel a bit like Fall is in the air. Awoke this morning to 48 degree temp. with today’s high expected to be 78. It wont be long now before we begin to see a changing of colors in the high mountain aspen trees and the creekside cottonwoods. A great time of the year.

The recent Home Valuation Code of Conduct regarding appraisals is believed to be causing undue delays, expense and inaccuracies in the market place.
National Association of Realtors® (NAR) President, Charles McMillan, recently met with both the New York State Attorney General and with the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency – the overseer of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – to convey industry concerns. Representatives Travis Childers (D-MS) and Gary Miller (R-CA) have co-sponsored HR 3044 that would impose an 18-month moratorium on the use of the HVCC. It would seem a good time to pause and reassess.

Our artist friend Bob Buckner snapped this great photo for us right here in town. Twins are fairly common but Triplets are more rare than a hat trick.

Participation was high last week in the annual youth 4-H Fair. Great livestock, arts, and husbandry in every class. The week ended with the Auction, where Jessica Uebler’s 1,341 pound Grand Champion steer was purchased for $2,600. Sheep, goats, swine, poultry and rabbits were shown, with Samantha McCay winning first place in the Junior Doe Fancy Breed rabbit which brought $500. at the auction. Congratulations to all our youth who participated.

So has the real estate market bottomed out, turned the corner, or is this just a blip on the radar? The overall economy has a long way to go for a correction, but recent signs are encouraging. IRA and 401k portfolios are gaining in value once again. And low interest rates coupled with price/value opportunities seem to be creating a much better climate for real estate. Our local market is suddenly seeing a spurt of increased activity and contracts.
