Response can get Free Lodging

Published by at 5:45 am under General Information

You might win 1 night of Free Lodging for just giving me your opinion. That’s right, just REPLY to this, and qualify for the drawing of one Night’s Lodging here in La Veta.  And it’s FREE.

I am currently working with Creative Lab 208 to redesign my website,  www.lavetarealty.com.   I’m working hard to make it a professional, interesting and easy to use site for you, my readers and potential clients.  And I want your opinion.
Each of the 2 links below represent a different home page design. Since this site is for you, your input is very important to me. Which version do you prefer, the Blue Sky or West Peak? What would you like to see on www.lavetarealty.com?  What suggestions do you have?

I need your help and value your opinion, so all respondants to this, get their name in a hat for a drawing and one  lucky person (or couple) will get one night free lodging  right here in La Veta. There’s no obligation whatsoever.  But to get in the drawing, you must give me your opinion of the 2 design concepts. Please leave a comment here on my blog, or email me at Jerry@LaVetaRealty.com. Just click and open the links below, review and then let me know the name of your choice design and any other comments. Don’t wait to respond. Winner of the Free Night will be drawn from respondants on April 27 and announced April 28, 2008. (only one response per person please – offer is void where prohibited by law)

    West Peak, for sure. Gayle

  2. Bill Won 20 Apr 2008 at 6:39 pm

Not even close – I much prefer the Blue Sky Design page.

  3. Mary Anneon 20 Apr 2008 at 6:53 pm

Blue Sky, absolutely. Much less cluttered and easy to focus on the different features.

  4. Amyon 20 Apr 2008 at 7:33 pm

I love the blue sky….however…you need to change the font.

It is smushed together and is cut off in some places.

    It looks GREAT!

And is a true reflection of your professionalism.

    Take care-

The first site is by far my favorite. It give the impression of your attention to detail. The total frame is in focus and the contrast of the colors really catch the eye. The way the picture was taken with the sharp blue sky it gives one the “feeling” of ” I want to be there!”

I’m not a real computer person but did like the Blue Sky the best…

In NM, we always think of Colorado as being green, open, vividly stunning and peaceful. When I saw Blue Sky, I saw all those things and wanted to be in that pasture—-NOW. The cattle in the background emphasized the pastural setting of La Veta.

I tried to click on one of the photos but realized you must still be in construction, but as to both sites, I love the abiilty to find what you want quickly. Both sites seem directed toward a user-friendly mode. I have a wonderful u-tube video of “what a wonderful world” on my favorites and I could see myself putting “Blue Sky” on my favorites just to go to the site and daydream.

Good Luck Jerry—but my pick is Blue Sky.

    Kind Regards,

Blue Sky is where I want to be. Thanks Jerry and I hope to meet with you soon in La Veta.

    Hi Jerry,

Of course since you sold us such a beautiful place up near the pass, we always have a free place to stay near La Veta. However, I thought I would give you my opinion anyway

Based on my work with website designers here at the university over the past few years, I vote for the Blue Sky option. I think that its layout is cleaner and that it feels inviting and encourages the visitor to explore further. The other seems a bit busy.

  10. Keli Kringelon 20 Apr 2008 at 9:54 pm

I prefer the Blue Sky design. More intuitive.

I also suggest, to correct for potential bias, that you alter which link is given on top (i.e. first), at least once during this survey.

    1. The blue sky page is less cluttered, includes options for potential customers to browse or to search for their specific requirements. The buttons on the left provide added backgound if a person wishes to get additional information on the area – very good. If the buttons respond rapidly, this will be an excellent site.

    2. I would remove the sentence about going to the premier properties. Customers don’t need to be led to the most expensive homes – they will go where they intended when they log on to the site.

    3. I would remove the CO from the first paragraph – it is redundant.

    4. Do the photos below go with the header above them? Do you click on the photo to get a specific property or do you get the full property listing as specified under the photo? Or, do you have to click on the button below the photo to get all listings of a given category? This might be clarified.

For instance, I could envision the commerical (or other) property photos rotating through the full list with a special header for each photo. Or, they could be pulled up in list form by clicking on the button below.

Good luck! Get well placed on the search engines and you will have a lot of success!

My vote is for the Blue Sky – WOW! Great picture – doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

  13. Betsy Bon 21 Apr 2008 at 5:26 am

Jerry – I like the first one better I think. It took going back and forth for me to decide, but I think that the second has too many options on it and is confusing. Blue Sky is beautiful, clear, and easily navigated.

  14. Mickey Von 21 Apr 2008 at 5:53 am

I would like to see a panoramic view of the snow covered Spanish Peaks. They are the most identifyable asset in Huerfano County and the focus of county websites.

  15. Shannonon 21 Apr 2008 at 5:53 am

I love them both, it’s very hard to decide. However, since I must, I choose West Peak!

  16. martaon 21 Apr 2008 at 7:03 am

No doubt – I was quickly drawn in by Blue Sky – it’s welcoming and warm, easy to navigate. West Peak is too cool and formal feeling. I also found I was stuck on the word” property” at the very beginning of the text, finding myself looking for a different word (like region)and unable to move on easily.

  17. Anneon 21 Apr 2008 at 7:33 am

The Blue Sky website is great and very picturesque.
The font in the headline was a bit squished with the tops cut off, however. Also, the captions to the bottom photos were confusing. The phrase “Priced to Sell” suggests these properties are bargains, but are they just commercial properties? Also, does that mean the other properties are not priced to sell?
Overall, the site is great. Unfortunately, you were so proficient in finding me a property, I know longer need to look for one. I will probably keep accessing your website, however, just to see what is going on in the community!

  18. Colleen Woodson 21 Apr 2008 at 10:41 am

Hi there…both designs are great, but my vote goes to the Blue Sky Design. I like the navigation and the organization of this design. Looks GREAT!

  19. Alisonon 21 Apr 2008 at 10:44 am

I vote for Blue Sky. Totally draws you in immediately. West Peak design is nice and more corporate — I like the testimonial you put on there and I think the copy is clearer on West Peak that it is a real estate site, but the first impressions of Blue Sky are more compelling and effective. Perhaps you could bring over some of the copy touches from West Peak to Blue Sky to get the best of both options.

  20. C.D. H.on 21 Apr 2008 at 10:55 am

Hi, both designs are very nice. I find the Blue Sky somewhat more appealing. Other than the text being a bit chopped off vertically, it seems more easily navigable that the West Peak. I agree with a previous comment that the CO is redundant in the first paragraph. Best of luck, I’ll check back for further updates!

  21. Jenny Davidsonon 21 Apr 2008 at 11:15 am

I liked the Blue Sky design best. It was more clear in the picture association concept. The style of homes had a picture directly below it, so you could navigate to the style and type of land you wanted quickly. The West Peak had too much information you had to process before you could figure out which link went to what type of property.

  22. Christinaon 21 Apr 2008 at 11:38 am

Blue Sky is the way to go – it really drew me in to see what the site had to offer. It appears easy to navigate, very organized, well placed and thought out icons, descriptions, etc. What I like about this one too is that it is not overwhelming – easy choices, and a good personal touch with Jerry’s contact info and pic.
    Good luck 🙂

  23. gannetton 21 Apr 2008 at 11:46 am

I have been visiting your listings for years. I believe the Blue Sky suits you- and think of all the area pictures you can put in!. It reminds me of you, and ..afterall you are selling a client relationship as well as property..as we potentially—become your neighbors. I did think the big picture was a tad too “intense” in colors ono my computer. I like the tonality of the West Peak’s big picture..but not the actual image. It’s the area, but intense should remain the listings -to draw the eye to the property—as Blue sky does… I really like what you have done with the information you now offer under “full info”.. the more you fill in and the more pictures you add …….the better! And on that- I will send you an idea I just stumbled on today..under seperate cover!

    Hey dad,

The blue sky is awesome! My pick is that one for sure but the real question is if your SON is available to win the free room too..lol.. lol.. or family excluded!!????

Talk to you soon, great site design too by the way,

    Kyle H

  25. mrs schmalzon 21 Apr 2008 at 12:16 pm

    blue sky is my pick

the picture is tantalizing and the list on the left side feels easier to navigate than the horizontal tabs.

    good luck.

  26. Susan Ramsdellon 21 Apr 2008 at 2:00 pm

I liked your Blue Sky set up best. I check your website often and this would be a pleasant picture to open to when I am sitting in hot and humid Texas dreaming of being up your way.

  27. Nahoon 21 Apr 2008 at 3:31 pm

Blue Sky… on many levels, by far!

  28. Kevin Fritsonon 21 Apr 2008 at 4:26 pm

    Hi Jerry–

Both sites look great, but I prefer the Blue Sky design. Having all the links on the left side makes it easy to navigate and see what you want. The font looks to be a bit condensed though–perhaps that occurs since this is just preliminary, but some words appear hard to read. The layout with the pictures across the bottom reads really well. Keep up the good work and thanks for including me! Look forward to seeing you in June.

    Glencoe, CA.

WOW What a response already. My sincere thanks to each of you for your insight, your comments and your support. Blue Sky is definitely leading and I can hardly wait to see what comments the rest of the week brings. Thank you again.

    Hey Jerry,
I really like the Blue Sky design. I think whichever you chose, you should have a picture of yourself…..your warm personality really comes through and I think that will make it easier for people to write to you.
    Take care,

Love the Blue Sky design, it makes me want to come back down there and enjoy LaVeta and Grandote!

  32. John Riceon 22 Apr 2008 at 9:30 am

My preference, simply from a non-blogger’s viewpoint, is for Blue Sky. The color grabs you. It was easy to follow down to get to the other information one would want. The West Peak seems to have an excess of information, seeking attention. What do I read first? Blue Sky grabs you, settles you in, and then presents your information opportunities.

P.S. Denise agrees that Blue Sky wins.

  33. Joanna Crawfordon 22 Apr 2008 at 4:52 pm

My favorite is the Blue Sky. Just fix the font so it is easier to read. Thanks for asking!

  34. Debbie Kon 23 Apr 2008 at 2:21 pm

Blue Sky – it was a lot easier to find what to click on with the options all at the left.

  35. Bill Munroeon 23 Apr 2008 at 8:49 pm

JERRY: BLUE SKY is more attractive and functional. I have forwarded some ‘text’ suggestions in your blog; hopefully you’ll see those comments?

  36. Stanon 25 Apr 2008 at 9:28 am

I can’t really say much without being redundant to above comments, but I also prefer Blue Sky.

One thing different I might add is that the navigation area on West Peak isnot aligned properly. It gives a sense of disorder and “clutter” as others have said. West Peak also feels more dull and subdued, whereas Blue Sky feels vibrant, tight, cohesive, organized, and overall more appealing and trustworthy.

On Blue Sky I would even change the font color to pop out a little more, but it is definitely the best choice of the two sites.

    Good luck.
