Resort Plans Confirmed

Published by at 4:52 pm under General Information

WOW, certainly looks like more truth than spoof to the newest news from the Cuchara mountain resort. (see earlier link posted below)  This is looking pretty exciting.  A new agreement with recent owner Balloun appears to be opening the doors to move forward. Reliable sources have identified the three principals ( they are well known locals to us) and they would have the knowledge, experience and capital securing ability to implement an overall development Plan to create an activity based – all season recreational resort facility on the mountain.   The Huerfano County Commissioners have informally even given it their initial support.   It won’t all happen immediately (may also still be Deeds to clear up I’m guessing).  And various feasibility studies, permits and planning are required. Then there is a rather significant matter of raising the necessary capital to get it all off the ground.  But hey, this is the closest we’ve been and most exciting news in a long time for the overall economic health, recreational opportunities and job creation for the Cuchara Mountain Resort.   Rumors will be plenty, (and opposition will arise) but tune in again later for more updates (or retractions).

I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed, this would be the boost everyone around has been wanting, now if it will happen then the whole area will benefit!! Great blog Jerry, thanks!

Sounds like a great plan, maybe slide a nine hole par three into the master plan. I hope Mr. McCombs is one of the “tres amigos”,I like his chances of raising capital ! Good luck to those involved, that ski hill is way to cool to let die.

“The aging and dilapidated Cuchara Mountain Resort was tranferred to a new owner last satruday .. and sources Facebook!! Where on FB and validity–who knows!!! It’s supposed to be to the Curhara Valley Recreational Metro District. Is there such a thing? It would have to be formed and registered–yes?? Metro Districts are quasi governmental. The article says the district will receive it from Balloun. Sorry on Signature. Can’t see that article until it gets to my mailbox- which the way things are running – will be around 8-25.. WHERE would I find this on FB?? Anyone know?
