Now confirmed 346 homes have been destroyed. Mostly in the 10 street area of Mountain Shadows development in NW Colorado Springs. Fire now covering 18,000 acres and 15% contained. More than 800 firefighters continue battling the fire. Waldo Canyon Fire Update —

Approx. 5,000 acres burned. 600 Firefighters on scene plus numerous aircraft. Highway 24 closed past Cave of the Winds.  Only 1 cabin lost so far.  Now 5% contained. Surrounding area temperatures reaching over 100 degrees with dry winds averaging 30 MPH.

Several fires burning now in Colorado. Including north to Co. Sprgs. and Ft. Collins area and west of us toward Durango/Telluride region.  Last month saw fires on our New Mexico friends at Ruidoso/Cloudcroft and further south toward Gila Wilderness.  Last year many of our Texas friends and relatives edured a similar fire season with their drought.  We are blessed to have friends, clients, loved ones from Steamboat Springs to La Veta, Cuchara and  Santa Fe. From ABQ, Oklahoma City,  Lubbock, Amarillo, Weatherford, and on to Waco, Austin, Houston and Wimberly.  (sounds like a country song).

Everyone please take care and be safe this fire season.

Colorado Fires

Published by under General Information

The Gov. has issued a statewide fire ban due to the extreme fire conditions we are seeing.  Several fires are burning across the state. Thankfully none burning in the La Veta Cuchara Valley region. New concerns are in fires west of Ft. Collins and the newest fire just west of Colorado Springs. No serious fires in southern colorado but we are on hightened alert for that danger. Fireworks bans are in effect and campfires are of course now prohibited.
